I wouldn't mind after cast if they did more damage, but I suppose that's why they added the after cast...to reduce spiking.
Still not entirely sure what Rangers are suppose to do...

Sit in outposts and spam "LFG" while everyone ignores them.

Condition spreading, interrupting and splitting; all things that are not very useful PvE, at the latest in HM.

Someone may have already posted it, but I made the build again anyways.

Wait, is Point Blank Shot and Zojun's Shot alright for use in HM? Wouldn't that get your Ranger too close to the action? I have gotten into at least one argument about using Throw Dirt on this forum and now everyone is saying, Sure! Rush in with Point Blank and Zojun's...
Or is this just the best Rangers have now...?

Half range isn't that bad, given that bows have greater range than anything else, and you've got a decent chunk of armor.

Expert's dexterity+asuran scan+Rtw gets some pretty nice dps going if you have a flatbow equiped.

I use the old school 3 Necros (sabway, I guess it's called) with a Bunny Thumper. That is:
Cruel Blow
Mokele Smash
Backbreaker
Bestial Mauling
Comfort Animal
"On Your Knees"
Lightning Reflexes
Optional (Whirling Defense/Irresistible Blow)
Pet isn't really required for any zones without heavy casters, but, it's still useful. Nothing to underestimate, really. Dire pets can be nasty sometimes. Epidemic on a hero comes in handy with the dazed. Also, you're quite a tank, being able to block 100% of the time and having some 100-115 armor base against elements (depending on your insignias).
Otherwise, I've used the same 3 Necros with a Volley BHA build
Volley
Broadhead Arrow
Dual Shot
Triple Shot
Distracting Shot
Savage Shot
Epidemic
Preparation of your choice
I admit, not the best things that ever came out, but, gets the job done. Got me through Vanquishing Tyria. Could probably slip some Dwarven or other PvE skills in there somewhere, like Ebon Battle Standard of Honor or Great Dwarf Weapon.

I used to have this build, but since Pene/Sund got nerfed, I switched over to the Pet Scythe build, and I rarely use bows in HM anymore. For some missions, I'll run BHA or Barrage, depending on what's to come.

This is true, and so you use the preparation when there is a particular enemy you want to kill. Say, a monk or an elementalist.

Done all vanquishes, HM missions, and most EotN dungeons with this, or variants of this.
Broad Head Arrow
Sloth Hunter's Shot
Savage Shot
Pain Inverter
Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support
Rebirth
Troll Unguent
Natural Stride
16 Expertise
12 Marksmanship
7 Wilderness Survival
Most of the skills can be swapped, backbone being BHA/Assassin support combo for continuous interruption, and PI for the hard hitters.
